ML & Computer Vision @ Etsy

Hi, I'm Honson, and I am committed to the betterment of technology for humanity. I'm an extremely curious individual that loves all things technology. From front-end development to Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Driving, I love it all. The main goal at the end of the day for me is to learn as much as I can in hopes of participating at a global level of discussion on where AI is taking us.

I'm currently open to new opportunities, most preferrably in the Bay Area. My following interests are in blockchain, data science, machine learning, computer vision, venture capital, and product management roles.

Here's a brief overview of what I've done with tech since middle school. Of course, college was where I really found a passion for software and the impact it can create for the world.

years of repair.
Starting in middle school, I used to run a tech repair business.

years of ML and Computer Vision Experience.
Still going strong!

years of Education Intiatives.
Academia needs a revamp!

years of coding. Continuing learn more and more as time goes by!

Just so these percentages are relevant, I'll say 0% is "I have no clue what I'm doing" and 100% is "I'm an elite 13x engineer that can do this without trying".

Python 70%
OpenCV 50%
Tensorflow/Keras 65%
Java 50%
Collaboration in Research 80%
Taking initiative 80%

Other skills

Here are other skills I have either picked up in my spare time, or have been actively utilizing, but a nice progress bar for it seems unecessary.

  • Git (of course!)
  • PyTorch
  • C/C++
  • SQL
  • R
  • AngularJS
  • Firebase/FireStore
  • Android Studio
  • XCode
  • Unreal Engine

For me, the main goal at the end of the day is to learn more and more about tech. I see mydegree and experience in computer science as a way to do good in the world. As such, having theopportunity to explore different industries to leverage any form of tech really excites me. Currently, I'm been involved with the automotive, healthcare, and eCommerce spaces.

Education Initiatives

Back in my college days, I knew I always wanted to do something great, but didn't know what. It wasn't until my visit to GTC when I realized how much artificial intelligence can impact everything we do. To avoid all the pre-reqs to get into machine learning courses at school, I looked to Coursera and other online resources, and also attended Stanford for a semester to pursue these studies without limitations. In hindsight, I realized how important self-learning and curiosity is. For that reason, I'm heavily involved with education initiatives that allow students to learn whatever they want.

A lot of the awesome ideas I've come to learn about have come from the many papers I've read over the years. I think getting published and putting your work out there for others to see is amazing. The list is a bit short for now, as I've only finished my undergraduate degree, but it's a work in progress!
